Aesthetics in perfect cube form

This fluorite from the famous Minerva 1 mine in Illinois is a true masterpiece of crystalline aesthetics - a composition of geometric precision, intense color and fascinating translucency.

The eye is immediately drawn to the dominant cubes, which rise up with perfect precision. Two main crystals determine the composition: one has an abstract-looking structured surface with delicate textures that appear differently vibrant depending on the incidence of light. A second one captivates with its mirror-smooth surface and intense colors.

A fascinating interplay of surface and transparency

One of the main crystals forms a fascinating contrast: smooth, almost perfectly flat and with an exceptionally high degree of reflection. This crystalline clarity reveals the translucent quality of the mineral. When the piece is backlit, it literally begins to glow - the yellow center of the mineral fades into an intense violet.

Color composition with depth and expression

The depth of color ranges from a rich, royal purple to bright yellow tones - a prime example of the zoned coloration typical of this find. In direct light, these color ranges unfold in an almost three-dimensional play - a characteristic that makes this piece a visual highlight in any display case.

Presentation on a custom-made in-house base

A special detail is the supplied, precisely fitting base made of high-quality acrylic glass. This was precisely manufactured in-house and bears an engraving of the place of origin - a stylish frame for this exceptional piece.

A piece from a renowned site

The Minerva 1 Mine was a former zinc and fluorspar mine north of Cave-in-Rock, Illinois. In 1949, Minerva Oil Company decided to create a shaft approximately 580 feet deep, making it the deepest operating mine in the Illinois-Kentucky Fluorspar District. Only at these depths did fluorite become dominant. The mine is now closed and should no longer be entered. The outstanding color quality of the fluorite crystals is typical of this location.

A highlight for every collection

This fluorite is more than just a mineral - it is an experience. Its play of colors, crystalline elegance and exceptional presentation make it suitable both as the centerpiece of a fluorite collection and as a striking eye-catcher in any high-quality mineral collection.

Notes on the mineral

  • This product is a natural product and should be handled with care.
  • Due to its delicate structure, there is a risk of damage through improper handling.
  • Keep out of the reach of children.
  • Fluorite is very sensitive to light and should therefore be protected from sunlight so that it does not lose its color.

Notes on the base

  • If the base is dusty or dirty, you can clean it with water and a soft cloth (e.g. made of viscose).
  • Please avoid using paper towels as these can cause fine scratches.
  • Special cleaning agents are generally not required.
